Explore the major wine regions of the Lake Balaton’s northern shore through our four carefully planned winetours:
Transport To complete the wine tasting experience we travel with a comfortable minibus between the cellars. The price includes transportation from accommodation to accommodation affecting Keszthely-Hévíz and the villages of the current tour. If you would like to drive yourself, are not staying in the area, and do not want to be left out the wine tasting experience, we can provide a passenger service for an additional charge.
1 – The Káli-Medence, a.k.a the Hungarian Tuscany
Although the Káli-Medence is not located directly on the shores of Lake Balaton, the climate of the region, wine style, wildlife, natural beauty, history, and cultural traditions all, collectively, bind it to the lake. With its southern exposed, Mediterranean vineyards, this hilly region is a real gem; it is no surprise this area is called, The Hungarian Tuscany.
The tour includes, a personal walkthrough the winecellar and a wine tasting of at least twelve wines, from three excellent wineries, from two sub-localities: Köveskál, and Monoszló. The wines come with a some snacks.. We also get to know the National Park of Salföld, the grange demonstrating the traditional livestock farming, and the Kőtenger (ancient remains of the Pannonian Sea). In Kékkút, we can will taste Byzantine Empress Theodora’s favorite beverage, the sour water named after her, and finally in Monoszló, we take pleasure in the amazing basalt structure of Hegyestű.

2 – Badacsony and the famous Kéknyelű
The tour focuses on the " Basalt Wreathed King" of Lake Balaton, the 437.4 meter high Badacsony and a grape variety grown exclusively in the Badacsony Wine Region known as the special Kéknyelű. One of the Kéknyelű’s unique characteristics is that it has female flowers therefore the fertilization is uncertain therefore foreign wind pollination is necessary. Usually a self pollinating variety, like Budai Zöld, is planted next to it.
The program consists of walkthroughs in two villages (Badacsony and Badacsonyörs). We visit three excellent wineries, and taste at least 12 kinds of wine. Also included is cold plate with local artisan products.
We get to know the legend of Rózsakő and admire the view of Lake Balaton while tasting wines under the century-old trees in Folly Botanical Garden.

3 – Welschriesling in the Balatonfüred-Csopak Wine Region
Currently Welschriesling is the dominant grape variety of the Balaton Wine Region. In Csopak, the winemakers dedicate outstanding attention to it, and they were also established in the Csopak Codex in 2012. The Csopak Codex is an independent trade mark system intended to develop a high level of protection of the Welschriesling’s character in Csopak.
We taste at least 12 kinds of wine in three renowned wineries in three villages in this area (Balatonfüred, Csopak, Paloznak). We’ll also enjoy cold plate with local artisan cheeses and meat.
During the day, we take a small detour to the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany. We’ll also enjoy some snacks.

4 – In the Embrace of Volcanoes
During the tour we will visit four buttes. And again we reward you with two quartets! What this means, is that the 16 different wines we taste during the trip are from four different hills (Szent György-hegy, Csobánc, Badacsony, and Tóti-hegy) and the four wineries we present to you. The package includes some snacks.
